Newport, RI

This time of year is perfect for a trip to Newport. I went this week when the temperature was 80 degrees and it was a perfect day.

First stop was Fort Adams State park. The views are beautiful on the water. There is plenty of free parking and there are restrooms inside the gift shop. There is a fort to tour but I wet on Tuesday and that is the one day of the week that it is closed.

There is a tall ship that calls Fort Adams home. That ship is the Oliver Hazard perry.

After a short stay at the park with a nice walk around the water, I headed to Thames Street to eat lunch and go shopping. There are so many cute shops both on Thames Street and along the water. There is street parking for $2 per hour or lots where you can park for up to $15 for the day.  I found plenty of street parking.

Went to lunch at TwentyTwo Bowen's. My waiter, Stephan, was fabulous! Food was yummy but be prepared to pay a little extra for the beautiful views on the dock. My roastbeef au jus was so tender and had a cost of $26. My clam chowder was $11 and very tasty.

when I left Bowen's wharf I headed to Hammet's Wharf where there is a nice view of the boats in the water and a sitting area. Such a relaxing spot. I suggest going before the summer starts it is easier to find parking spots and not have to walk in large crowds.
I ended the day with ice cream in a waffle bowl from Kilwins. I strongly suggest a trip there. Big Thank you to the lady working there that let me try samples of the ice cream to help make my decision.
