Cape Cod Getaway
Once memorial day is here the population on Cape Cod gets extremely high so I always like to take a few days down cape just before that time. The weather is usually on the warm side and the beaches are empty. I don't go in the ocean but I do like to walk along the beach and sometimes just sit and read. I find the sound of the waves quite soothing. I stayed at Ocean Mist Beach Hotel in Yarmouth.
This hotel has their own private beach and plenty of ocean front rooms. To save money this time I got only a partial ocean view room. I paid $99 per night and with taxes and fees it totaled $136. I have stayed here multiple times and I love the view.
I had a king bed and a sleep sofa in my room and a small deck with two chairs. Before settling in for the night I enjoyed the hot tub to myself. So relaxing to sit in the hot tub while listening to the ocean.
I made sure to set my alarm so I could be out on the beach for sunrise at 5:22 am. The sky was gorgeous.
There is so much to do in Yarmouth that I never have enough time for everything but I'll go back another day. For this little get away I spent time at restaurants trying to find the perfect place for my son's rehearsal dinner but I also found plenty of time for me to relax.
If you like fried seafood I recommend going to Kream and Cone in Dennis. The food is delicious and the portions are very large. I got fried clam strip plate which comes with fries and delicious onion rings. the cost was $20 and I could not finish everything.
One place I never miss when in the area is the store Cuffy's. Its not just a store, it is an experience.
The exterior looks like lots of little stores but it is all connected. I made sure to buy myself some fudge when I was there. yummy Then I sat on a bench outside and just relaxed listening to the music they had playing. Almost bought a cape cod sweatshirt, now I wish I did.
I took a drive to Chatham to see if there were any seals at Chatham Fish Pier but none yet. I have been there in warmer weather and seen hundreds of seals. If you are in the area it is definitely worth your time to stop. No seals but the view is pretty nice.
When I left the cape I stopped off at the cape cod canal to walk a little and watch the many boats passing through.
I hope everyone finds the time to make a trip to cape cod even if only a day trip. There is so much to do and so may ocean views to enjoy.
