Portland Maine

 What a beautiful waterfront city to explore, especially if you like lighthouses and enjoy exploring old forts.  We took the almost 3 hour drive North on a Thursday. Traveled route 495 to 95 at 8am and there was light traffic. I always have to make a couple of stops so if you are like me, it will comfort you to know that there are some nice rest stops on route 95 in Maine. First is the visitor information center just over the Maine border. This place has rest rooms and plenty of tourist information along with a couple of helpful people working there. Next stop is in Kennebunk. This place has a variety of food options (Burger King, Popeyes, food mart, and coming soon is Dunkin Donuts) also some large rest rooms. Both places were nice and clean. The first light house we explored was Portland Head Light at Fort Williams. There is plenty of parking here but be aware the cost to park is $5 for two hours. The side of the parking lot was lined with outhouses if needed.  The light house is loc
