Lake Placid

I recently spent 3 days reliving the 1980 olympics in Lake Placid, New York. I have only been home for 2 weeks and I am ready to go back and visit this place again. We started our vacation at 5am on a Wednesday morning as we started our drive from Eastern Massachusetts. We made several stops along the way at Rest Areas on the Mass Pike and then at a few in New York along route 87. The rest areas in NY were so nice. With great props for pictures as seen in the pics below. We got to our hotel, Lake Placid Grandview, just after noon time and even though check in time was 4pm they let us check in early.  The hotel was wonderful and I highly reccomend you stay here when traveling to Lake Placid. The mountain views were beautiful. For more informaton about this hotel you can read my previous blog post all about the Lake Placid Grandview. After we had everything moved into our room and we had explored the hotel, we ventured over to the Ski jump facility. WOW, the top is so high!! Th...

Lake Placid Club Grandview

Image
I recntly traveled to Lake Placid, NY and I stayed at the Lake Placid Club Grandview. I would definitely stay here again. This hotel is located high on a hill so the views from the hotel are gorgeous. The picture below taken from downtown Lake Placid shows the htoel high above. When you go downtown you can walk down the road or take the long staircase, or do what I did and drive down the hill and then park in one of the many public parking lots. There is also lots of tsreet parking downtown as well as the parking lots. I spent lots of time just sitting outside enjoying the mountain views, There was a patio with a fire pit and lots of tables and chairs to relax. These were some of the outside views When you are in the mountains you are bound to get some rain, which it did each morning I was there, but this hotel had plenty of places to sit and relax indoors. The lobby area had a nice big fireplace with lots of comfy chairs. The first picture shows a bob sled that was used in the 1...

Trolling in Rhode Island

Image
Today I went in search of the wooden trolls in the state of Rhode Island. I started at Ninigret Park which is located in Charlestown, Rhode Island You park in one of the massive size parking lots by the playground and then follow the troll footprints. The first troll I found was named Greta Granite. At the end of the paved path with the foot prints there is a sign directing you on to a dirt path into the woods.  I was impressed with the amount of detail on the trolls. Also really liked Ninigret park. So many walking trails along with a playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, disc golf and benches everywhere. There were also multiple bathrooms and portable potties throughout the park. The second troll located on the pond in Ninigret park was Eric. After finding both trolls and enjoying a walk all around the park It was time to head to another park for more trolls. The second park I visited was Ryan Park in Kingstown, This troll was tougher to find as there are multiple p...
