Weekend at Hyannis Harbor Hotel

Image
I love spending time on Cape Cod but sometimes it is just too crowded for me during the summer. I decided to take a long weekend in Hyannis before the busy season starts. I went Saturday May 2nd until Monday May 4th. I try to go every year but tis year I tried a new hotel. I stayed in Hyannis at The Hyannis Harbot Hotel. The Hotel was so nice and the staff was wonderful. Check in was quick and easy. My room had a king bed and sleep sofa. The room was quite spacious. Just outside the door was a balcony with a roof which was nice because there was some rain when I was there but I could sit outside and watch the ferries come and go at night.   There was a light rain Saturday when I arrived but I sat outside and enjoyed the view. Sunday morning I started my day with a walk at West Dennis beach. This is a great location to walk before the summer crowds are here. After that I returned to the hotel and I went for a walk across the street where the ferries are and there is a small pa...

Eating at Disney

Image
I recently had a 7 day vacation at Walt Disney World in Florida and I am writing this post to let you have an idea of the food and costs of that food.  I spend so much on the vacation itself that I hate to spend too much on the food. I want you to know that you can have delicious meals for reasonable prices. of course if you want a character meal you will pay $64 per person. I had two character buffet meals. One was Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom where all the characters from Winnie the Pooh stories come by your table to pose for pictures.  The buffet had two carving stations, one was pork loin and the other was turkey, and many sides to pick from. Then there were lots of desserts. My favorite dessert was the carrot cake cheesecake and the mint truffle. When dining at a buffet be sure to have a big appetite so you get your money's worth. The other buffet I did was Hollywod and Vine at Hollywood Studios. The characters were Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofey. I ate at 3:30...

LaSalette Shrine Christmas Display

Image
Last week I went to see the Christmas light display at Roger Williams Park Zoo and this week I went to see the beautiful FREE display at LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro, Ma. I went last night when the weather was warm so there were lots of people there. The lights come on at 5:00 so I made sure i was there before that and I was so surprised at the amount of cars already there. The Main parking lot was full so I went to what I call the overflow lot which was 3/4 full. That over flow lot is circled in red in the picture below. Admission is free but there are food booths set up that sell hot chocolate, hot apple cider, fried dough, hot dogs and there are fire pits so you can buy the makings for smores.  There is also an areaset for little ones with a train ride and carousal. There is so much to see you should give yourself an hour to walk around. There is also a gift shop to go in and warm up on a cold night. They also have the bathrooms inside open when the lights are on. Here are some...

Holiday Lights Spectacular

Image
I love looking at all the Christmas light displays this time of year. On Thursday I went to one display for the first time. I went to the Holiday Lights Spectacular at Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island. I highly reccomend this to everyone. The cost is $15 for adults and $13 for kiddos. Under 2 years of age are free. You must buy your tickets online and you have to pick your arrival time starting with the 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and ending with 8:00 to 9:00 pm. The event closes for the day at 9:30 pm. I arrived at 5:00 and loved that early time. Plenty of parking was available and there were very few other people.  I took my time walking through the display being sure not to miss a thing. Even saw Santa Claus. The lights were beautiful The weather was a bit chilly and windy but there were plenty of places to warm up. The bathrooms were nice and toasty and there were multiple facilities as you walked along. There was an area that had chairs around fire pits. I would say there ...
