The Big E

The Big E is a fair held in Springfield Mass every September. This year the fair started on September 18th and ends on October 4th. I try to go every year because there is so much to see and do. The gates open at 8am but everything else doesn't open/start until 10 am. I arrived at 10am and stayed until 7:30 pm. I suggest you park at gate 9. That is the largest parking lot and easy access to the gate. Cost to park there is $15. Cost to enter the fair is $20 and can be purchased at the gate. You do not have to purchase online and pay that extra online fee.  There is a midway section with rides and games. The ride ticket is an additional $40 so I did not go on any rides.  Food is everywhere! so much to choose from. I enjoyed a blooming onion for only $10. That was my appetizer to start the day. For lunch I went to a restaurant in the storrowtown section of the fair. "Storrow Town tavern" I was not happy with my burger. It tasted burnt, but my fries were delicious. Then later...

Lake Placid

 I recently spent 3 days reliving the 1980 olympics in Lake Placid, New York. I have only been home for 2 weeks and I am ready to go back and visit this place again. We started our vacation at 5am on a Wednesday morning as we started our drive from Eastern Massachusetts. We made several stops along the way at Rest Areas on the Mass Pike and then at a few in New York along route 87. The rest areas in NY were so nice. With great props for pictures as seen in the pics below. We got to our hotel, Lake Placid Grandview, just after noon time and even though check in time was 4pm they let us check in early.  The hotel was wonderful and I highly reccomend you stay here when traveling to Lake Placid. Lake Placid Club Grandview

  I recntly traveled to Lake Placid, NY and I stayed at the Lake Placid Club Grandview. I would definitely stay here again. This hotel is located high on a hill so the views from the hotel are gorgeous. The picture below taken from downtown Lake Placid shows the htoel high above. When you go downtown you can walk down the road or take the long staircase, or do what I did and drive down the hill and then park in one of the many public parking lots. There is also lots of tsreet parking downtown as well as the parking lots. I spent lots of time just sitting outside enjoying the mountain views, There was a patio with a fire pit and lots of tables and chairs to relax. These were some of the outside views When you are in the mountains you are bound to get some rain, which it did each morning I was there, but this hotel had plenty of places to sit and relax indoors.
