Eating at Disney

I recently had a 7 day vacation at Walt Disney World in Florida and I am writing this post to let you have an idea of the food and costs of that food.  I spend so much on the vacation itself that I hate to spend too much on the food. I want you to know that you can have delicious meals for reasonable prices. of course if you want a character meal you will pay $64 per person. I had two character buffet meals. One was Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom where all the characters from Winnie the Pooh stories come by your table to pose for pictures.

The buffet had two carving stations, one was pork loin and the other was turkey, and many sides to pick from. Then there were lots of desserts. My favorite dessert was the carrot cake cheesecake and the mint truffle.

When dining at a buffet be sure to have a big appetite so you get your money's worth. The other buffet I did was Hollywod and Vine at Hollywood Studios. The characters were Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofey. I ate at 3:30 and the place was empty so the characters were at my table multiple times. The two carving stations at this buffet had pork roast and steak. I thought the green beans were delicious as was the sour cream and chive mashed potatoes. Desserts included soft serve ice cream with all the toppings and my favorite, apple crisp.

If you are looking for more affordable meals....
Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom is all you can eat family style for $45 per person. The pot roast and turkey are delicious. You also get ham. The mac and cheese is so creamy I loved it. The best part of this meal was the ooey gooey toffee cake topped with ice cream.

Now for some fast food meals that are also on the healthy side....
At Epcot I got a large portion of chicken stir fry over rice for only $11.79

This was in the building with Living with the Land and Soaring.

At my resort, French Quarter, I started my day with a western omelet and some tater tots which they call potato barrels. That was $12
I enjoyed the large portion of cheese in the omelett.

I strongly suggest you buy the refillable cup at your resort. I paid $22.99 and that includes unlimited refills at any resort, but not in the parks. One drink costs $4.29 so only 5 refills and you break even. I was there 7 days and had 3-4 refills everyday including the tea I had every morning on my way to the parks. Then I filled the cup at water stations in the park and asked for a cup of ice at fast food restaurants. That saved me a bundle. At French Quarter I also had chicken strips and fries which I ate poolside. Four large, all white meat, chicken strips with an abundance of fries cost me $12. Hotel food prices were very reasonable and I loved everything I ate.
While at Epcot I ate in the country of America at a BBQ place called Regal Eagle Smokehouse. I got a burger which came with pulled pork on the top and deliciously seasoned fries for $15 or you can get onion rings. I also recommend the BBQ platter for $18 which has ribs, pork butt, sausage, cornbread and one side.

Now for the snacks I enjoyed. At MK I had to have the cheeseburger eggrolls. For $6 you get 2 egg rolls. You can pick 2 cheeseburger rolls, 2 pepperoni rolls, or one of each.
Another of my favorite snacks is the Mickey pretzel where you can get anywhere in the parks and resorts. I enjoyed one at the pool bar. Six dollars gets you a pretzel bug enough for two and some cheese dipping sauce.

Since I was staying at Port Orleans French Quarter, I had to have some Mickey beignets. I got 3 of them for $7.99

I always enjoy the food when I travel to Walt Disney World in Florida. I can't wait to go again.
