Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter Resort

returned home yesterday after a 6 day trip to Disney World. While there, I stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter Resort. I would not hesitate to stay there again. The regular price for a standard room is $304 per night. I took advantage of a promotion and only paid $255 per night. My room was in a perfect location. Only a few steps away from the river where you can take a boat ride over to Disney Springs and in the other direction I only had a few steps to Jackson Square. Jackson square is where the hotel lobby is, the quick service restaurant, the jazz night club, the resort store and multiple activities happen there.  If you want to pay a little more ($333) you can get a room with a river view.
This resort is the smallest of the Disney properties and that is one reason I liked it so much. I spend the whole day walking all over the parks so it was nice to have a short walk to my room when I got off the bus. There is one bus stop in front of the resort and I found the bus rides to each park to be about 15 minutes. I never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus to arrive. There were a few times that I was the only rider on the bus.
The grounds are beautiful. I spent one night just walking around seeing everything. The walk along the river at night was so pretty. After walking along the river, I sat at the bonfire for awhile then went to the park where they were showing the movie "Tangled"

Disney cast members spread blankets out on the grass so families could get comfortable. There were also benches all along the grass, which is where I sat.
While sitting there I saw the horse and carriage go by. Yes, you can take a ride around the grounds of French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside.
The food at the quick service restaurant was quite tasty. They have different stations, one of them is the Italian stop where you can get a large pizza for $21.99.  Another station is where you create your own plate by picking a protein and then two sides.  I had BBQ beef with garlic green beans and spicy slaw for a total of $12.49

Another day, for the same price I got a large bowl of jambalaya with corn bread

One of my best purchases was the refillable souvenir mug for $21.99. Each drink is $4 so with this one time purchase you get free refills at the resorts for as long as you stay. I averaged 3 or 4 refills each of my days so this was a great savings for me. I would fill up with a tea on my way to the parks and then a cold drink as soon as I got off the bus when returning from the parks. One or two more refills with dinner and then another when I returned from my nightly festivities.
Another delicious treat at this resort are the beignets! You get 3 for $7.79 along with your choice of dipping sauce (caramel, strawberry, or chocolate)
If you are planning a trip to Disney, I highly recommend this resort.
