Alexandria Bay, New York

I found a beautiful waterfront town in upstate New York. If you enjoy picturesque water towns then Alexandria Bay is for you.  If you live in southern Massachusetts like I do, be prepared for a long drive to get there. The ride is about 6 hours but the town is beautiful.
I stayed at the Edgewood resort which was located on the water. I sat on my balcony and watched all the boats go by.
The hotel had an outdoor swimming pool, a playground for smaller children, a bar and a delicious restaurant. One night I was there, the restaurant had a prime rib buffet for dinner. I love a good buffet!
There was prime rib, chicken, meatballs, steak tips in gravy, noodles, lasagna, assorted veggies, clam chowder, a salad bar and then there was a dessert bar. Oh so good and all for $35 per person.

Here are the prices for the rooms:

These are prices for the months of May and June

The prices for July and August are a little higher

End of the season prices in September and October

That night I sat on my balcony and watched the sunset, which was quite late at 8:54. Much later sunset than I am used to in Eastern Mass.

In town there is a very large picnic/park area which is on the water like, like everything in town. It was quite peaceful sitting on the bench on the waters edge and just watch the hundreds of boats go by. You can also view several of the tiny islands with houses all around. Then downtown you will find lots of small shops and restaurants. I had lunch at Riley's by the River and my chicken sandwich and fries were yummy. They also make their own potato chips.

Alexandria Bay is known as the home of 100 islands. As I stated earlier, you can see a few of those islands and the houses on each island from land but the best way to view them is by boat
So I took a one hour tour from Uncle Sam's boat tours which was $22. There are longer tours if you want to see more of the islands but 1 hour was enough for me since I get sea sick. I am happy to report I felt fine for my entire trip. Some islands were tiny with only room for a small house and others were much larger with a beautiful grand home. One of the islands had Boldt Castle which you can tour, but I did not. Maybe next trip.

I look forward to going back again some day and probably staying at the same hotel.

I'll write again after my next travel. I wonder where I should go next......
