North Conway, NH

Every Year the towns of Jackson and North Conway, NH sponsor the Pumpkin People Event.

I recently went up there to find these pumpkin people and to do some other sight seeing. I spent 3 days and two nights at the North Conway Grand Hotel. This place was centrally located and a very nice place to stay. The cost for 2 nights the last week of October was $258 which included all taxes. My room had 2 queen beds, sofa bed, table with 2 chairs, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and a 52 inch TV with DISH satellite. Both the outdoor and indoor pools were open. I did enjoy a swim each night in the outdoor pool. Air temp was upper 30s but pool was heated and there was a rather large fire pit going as well. The mountain views around the hotel were beautiful

This next picture was my favorite view, about 3 minutes down the road (route 16)

To find the pumpkin people I parked in downtown North Conway and walked around. I found a few pumpkin people and a lot of adorable shops where of course I had to buy things. Then I traveled about 5 minutes to find the "Christmas Loft" I LOVED this store. When you enter you walk into a winter wonderland. There was a small village with animated people and animals including Christmas carolers singing Christmas songs. I spent so much time in this place. Of course I bought a few Christmas items.

Then I got back in my car and drove around to other businesses to find more pumpkin people. Here are a few of my favorites.

There was no problem finding places to eat. Muddy Moose was a good choice for dinner one night. Red Fox was another good restaurant and they had  nice display of pumpkin people saluting our troops.

I went up there after peak leaf peeping season so prices at hotels were cheaper and there was still a little color. I had a great time and I will definitely make this an annual trip. Next year I may travel a little bit further to go check out the Mt Washington Inn.
