Corona school closures

Boy am I glad that this year is not my final year teaching. This would be a terrible way to end my career. I know the governor has said schools can reopen in May 4th but I just don't see that happening. I hope I am wrong but I am thinking schools will be closed for the rest of this year. That means I can't say goodbye to my seniors who I will not see again since they will be off to college. That makes me very sad.
During all this time at home in addition to remote teaching I am spending time researching places to visit when I do retire. Everyone that knows me is aware I am a HUGE Disney fan so I plan to buy an annual pass when I retire. That will be my retirement gift to myself. Retirement is June of 2021 and this was the headline on a recent post on Mickeyblog.com



This article was perfect for me as it detailed the best time to go and two of those times are when I plan to go. In September I plan to be at Walt Disney World on the first day of school and I also plan to be there the beginning of December


I just have to wait one more year before all the traveling fun begins!

Have you priced a plane ticket lately? I have been checking prices for a round trip from the northeast to Orlando. I have also checked booking one way flights on 2 different airlines. I have checked the price to fly out of Boston, Providence, Manchester and Worcester. I am struggling to find a flight under $500 for the times I want. I want to fly out first thing in the morning so I have looking at flights at 6am or 7am. Coming home I don't want to land late at night so I am focusing on flights before 3pm. Two years ago I paid $383 for my round trip out of Boston. I doubt I will see it that low now but I would be happy at $450. In addition to that cost I then will have to pay for luggage and the bus rides to and from the airports. It is so expensive to fly!  I don't care what airline I fly to Florida but I have to fly home on Jet Blue. Pickety Place for Lunch

 I recently took another trip to Mason, NH for lunch. I took the 90 minute drive along with a friend to get lunch at Pickety Place. If you haven't been there I strongly suggest that you make the trip. The cute cottage in NH has been converted into a restaurant and gift shop.  They have 3 seatings for lunch at 11:30, 12:45 and 2:00. When the dinner bell rings you can enter the restaurant and will be told which table is yours. You MUST make a reservation in advance. I suggest at least 2 weeks in advance although one time I had to go 3 weeks out to find an available time. Everyone eats the same meal. When you get to your table there will be crakcers and dip for you to enjoy. Once the waitress gets your drink order she will bring the bread of the month to your table. Weekend at Hyannis Harbor Hotel

 I love spending time on Cape Cod but sometimes it is just too crowded for me during the summer. I decided to take a long weekend in Hyannis before the busy season starts. I went Saturday May 2nd until Monday May 4th. I try to go every year but tis year I tried a new hotel. I stayed in Hyannis at The Hyannis Harbot Hotel. The Hotel was so nice and the staff was wonderful. Check in was quick and easy. My room had a king bed and sleep sofa. The room was quite spacious. Just outside the door was a balcony with a roof which was nice because there was some rain when I was there but I could sit outside and watch the ferries come and go at night.   There was a light rain Saturday when I arrived but I sat outside and enjoyed the view. Sunday morning I started my day with a walk at West Dennis beach. This is a great location to walk before the summer crowds are here.
